Giant-Jo and Little-Kari
Rabbajazz
A Musical Tale Based on (Almost) True Stories – For the Whole Family
Step into a musical story filled with power, energy, and emotion, as Lars Jakob Rudjord invites young and old alike to discover the legendary Giant-Jo and his daughter, Little-Kari. Through atmospheric instrumental music and vivid storytelling, this concert takes us back to the 1800s and the small village of Tovdal in Southern Norway – where Giant-Jo lived his life as a horse trader, fierce fighter, master dancer, and single father of six.
Giant-Jo was known to walk on his hands, lift stones the size of cars, and once, he even killed a bear with his bare hands! His stories are many – and thrilling. In this concert, we also hear about his daughter, Little-Kari, and what it was like to grow up at a time when rural life in Norway was tough, adventurous, and full of surprises.
The music is composed by Lars Jakob Rudjord and was released on the critically acclaimed album Kjempe-Jo in 2024. The tales are based on true stories – well, almost true. Because Giant-Jo was in fact Lars Jakob Rudjord’s great-great-grandfather!
