Wasp Sting is an uncompromising quartet from Bergen that moves through an energetic and unpredictable landscape between indie, punk, prog rock, and jazz
With stereo trumpet and an exploratory, playful approach to both form and expression, the band has developed a distinctive sound that both challenges and immediately captivates. Their music has been described as a kind of “highly catchy jazz-punk” — with a rare ability to combine complexity with direct appeal.
The band debuted with the EP Ny Person in 2023, a release that quickly gained attention and was described as “the most distinctive debut of the year” in Bergens Tidende. The release also received strong reviews in Klassekampen, and the title track resonated widely with its themes of identity, growth, and the feeling of being in motion.
Since then, Wasp Sting has made a name for itself at several Norwegian festivals, such as Oslojazz, Nattjazz, and Bergenfest, and has also begun building an audience outside Norway with concerts in cities including Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Aarhus.
Live, this is a band that truly has to be experienced: raw energy, joy of playing, and intense presence — a concert experience that is both danceable, unpredictable, and lightly hypnotic.
Line-up:
Agnes Fernanda Kierulf – bass, trumpet, Móeiður Loftsdóttir – trumpet, Linnea Josefine Gjelstad Kierulf – drums, Hanna Elisabeth Zieritz – guitar, vocals
