Sivert (10) Designed the Official Children’s T-Shirt for Moldejazz 2026
Drums, bold colours and striking contrasts secured victory for the ten-year-old pupil from Langmyra School in Moldejazz’s long-standing annual competition.
The 2026 Children’s T-Shirt will be available from the Jazz Shop on Storgata from Monday 13 July at 10:00
There were scenes of great excitement among the Year 4 pupils at Langmyra School when representatives from the jury and Moldejazz arrived to reveal the winner of this year’s Children’s T-Shirt competition. Among hundreds of colourful entries, it was Sivert Rød who emerged victorious. His drawing of a drummer will now become the official design for the Moldejazz 2026 Children’s T-Shirt.
“It feels a bit strange, but really cool to experience winning. I was very surprised,” says Sivert Rød.
Drums and Jazz Vibes
This year’s challenge for Year 4 pupils across the municipality was to illustrate a musical instrument. For Sivert, the choice was an easy one.
“I drew a drummer on stage, just before he hits the drums. That’s what I think of when I think of Moldejazz – drums and that sort of thing. And for the colours, I thought a blue background would look really cool,” explains Sivert.
A School Celebrity?
Sivert is taking the celebrations very much in his stride, but when asked whether he might now become something of a celebrity at Langmyra School, he smiles:
“In a way. I’ll probably get stopped in the playground and things like that. I think my class thinks it’s really cool, especially that the winner came from our year group.”
A Unanimous Jury
This year’s jury consisted of Linda Melsom, Jørund Lillås (SpareBank 1 SMN), Joakim Hagen (volunteer representative), Jarle Sanden and Ellisif R. Vestad. Having reviewed hundreds of submissions, they agree that Sivert’s drummer quickly stood out from the crowd.
In its statement, the jury highlighted the winning drawing’s clear visual expression and vibrant use of colour. The jury also noted that the artwork captures the experience of playing an instrument at Moldejazz in a compelling way, and that Sivert’s entry impressed with its attention to detail and originality.
