An Announcement Worthy of International Jazz Day!

Today's announcement is a tribute to and celebration of International Jazz Day; we are excited to welcome Maridalen and the Mathias Eick Quintet to this year’s Moldejazz!

This week’s artists have been handpicked by Moldejazz’s youth programming group, Programråd UNG, an important initiative by the festival. The group consists of students from Molde, Atlanten, Volda, and Ålesund upper secondary schools, giving them the opportunity to influence the festival's bookings – entirely without censorship or moderation. It’s a vital project aimed at challenging established structures at Moldejazz, providing youth with experience – and gaining from it in return.

MARIDALEN

Maridalen is a critically acclaimed jazz trio that has released three albums since their 2021 debut – all of which have received outstanding reviews. Their sound is intimate and vivid, with their first album, Maridalen, being named one of “The Best Norwegian Albums of the Year” by Aftenposten, and the follow-up Bortenfor listed among Dagsavisen’s “Best Jazz Albums of 2022.”

With performances in Romania, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, and England – including at the renowned London Jazz Festival – and two sold-out shows at Oslojazz last year, we are now thrilled to welcome them to Moldejazz.

Maridalen consists of:

  • Anders Hefre – saxophone, clarinet
  • Jonas Kilmork Vemøy – trumpet
  • Andreas Rødland Haga – double bass
