With his unmistakable, warm trumpet tone and strong sense of melody, Mathias Eick has captivated audiences around the world for years. Since the release of his debut album The Door on ECM in 2008, he has gained international acclaim as one of the most unique musicians to emerge from the Norwegian jazz scene. Eick has a rare talent for creating dynamic, intimate ensembles – and his music is always infused with both energy and reflection.

This summer, Eick brings his brand-new project Lullaby to Moldejazz. The album, set for release on ECM in spring 2025, is described by Eick himself as “a reminder that we were all once children.” Here, he invites us into a musical landscape filled with warmth, nostalgia, and dreamlike moods – a perfect fit for a summer evening at Teatret Vårt.

Joining him on stage is a handpicked ensemble of top-tier musicians: star pianist Kristjan Randalu, known for his lyrical expression and unparalleled musical vision; violinist Håkon Aase, who weaves folk-inspired colors into Eick’s universe; bassist Audun Erlien, whose deep groove is shaped by collaborations with artists like Nils Petter Molvær; and drummer Torstein Lofthus, who seamlessly moves between pop, rock, and free jazz with a commanding musical presence.

Together, they create music that is beautiful, open, and profound – where each musician is given space to shine, while the interplay remains at the heart of it all. The audience can expect a concert that moves between the tender and the grand, from small, intimate moments to expansive soundscapes that fill the room.

Following the success of albums like Skala, Midwest, Ravensburg, and When We Leave, Lullaby marks a new and personal chapter in Mathias Eick’s musical journey – and it is a true pleasure to experience this project live at Moldejazzon July 18!
