Moldejazz is the second oldest jazzfestival in Europe, as well as the most important one in Norway. It was founded in 1961.
The festival is arranged every year in July during week 29. We hold the prestigious status of "Knutepunktfestival for jazz i Norge" and collaborate with other festivals both in Norway and in other countries. Moldejazz is a foundation, with a permanent administration that works throughout the year consisting of 5 FTEs. Annual turnover is approx. 30. million kroner. During 6 hectic days in week 29, approx. 120 concerts are hosted, we sell approx. 22,000 tickets, 500 artists play, 600 volunteers work for us and approx. 60,000 people visit Molde during the festival-week.
Besides the artistic, we take care of a number of business areas related to the festival-sales and restaurant business, sponsorship work, etc. In addition to the festival, we offer in collaboration with Storyville Jazz Club an year-round jazz-scene in Molde. In 2012 we moved into the cultural building Plassen in the center of Molde.
